Feel special at Adriatik Hotel, the luxury, beachfront, historic resort in Durrës, Albania

Do you want to feel like a Royalty, feel at home, away from home? This is what guests of the Historic Adriatik Hotel in Durrës, Albania, will point you after their stay. Actually this is what I have already experienced myself with my family. Being surrounded with hotel staff, who cares about you and your loved ones, staying in a comfortable, relaxing room, experiencing incredible sunsets, watching kids having fun with entertainers, couples celebrating their anniversaries and special moments in beautifully decorated rooms, breakfast being served in tour room, fantastic massages & facials in their Queen Teuta SPA, yoga classes & meditation on the beach, all year round, will make you choose Adriatik Hotel all over again. This is the perfect place to experience the magic of Christmas and New Year’s Eve too, with your family and friends enjoying great food, special menus and live music. Adriatik isn’t just a hotel, it’s a narrative.

Rooms at Adriatik take on an endearing Mediterranean charm, with wooden furniture and calming neutral hues -palettes of muted greys, creams and blues reign supreme. The hotel has 70 rooms in total, a clutch looking out over the bay, while others look towards the outdoor swimming pool and tennis court; the hotel is set out much like a village itself, with outdoor pathways. Several of the rooms boast their own terraces, while some luxuriate in the addition of a private hydro massage. From one of their suites, I watched one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve seen in my entire life. Every room, no matter the category, is large, comfortable and comes with all the amenities. Beds? Sumptuous, firm and comfy. The quintessential kind we all dream of when we imagine that perfect hotel experience.

FOOD & DRINKS

Lunch at Apollonia, Adriatik’s signature restaurant, where a talented kitchen team is intent on showing off the best of the local produce and cuisine as well as international dishes. Everything is colorful, fresh and full of flavor. The dinner menu is a cross-cultural feast spanning local pies with fresh vegetables and cheese, and fusion-y creations from predominantly locally sourced ingredients. It’s very flavoursome and rich and stylistically elaborated on the plate. Order byrek with spinach or seasonal vegetables for your children (trust me, they will love it) and sushi rolls and avocado tartare for you. Breakfast is a chilled-out affair with eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables, pies, jams, local cheeses, yoghurt, sausages and a stack of pastries to keep you going. Searching for the right place for your events? At Adriatik every event -from wedding to birthday parties and baby gender reveals- takes life with their excellent organization.

EXPERIENCES

Named after the Illyrian queen Teuta who antagonized Rome, Queen Teuta spa is a full spa kitted out with hammam and draws inspiration from the laidback Mediterranean way of life. From the treatment room to Turkish bath and gym everything is perfect, though the cherry on top here is the indoor Thalasso Heated Pool. I enjoyed every single minute here. Treatments blend rare organic products and ingredients, a mix of innovative and traditional techniques and a 360 degrees approach to well-being and can all be adapted to personal preferences, included exclusive Forlle’d Facials. You can book directly on their website for more benefits: www.adriatikhotel.com. Adriatik Hotel is the perfect place for families with children too. In essence, the staff organizes many activities to entertain kids of all ages, like funny cooking classes, Zumba dances, and tennis classes. One of the prettiest experiences for kids here? Pizza cooking classes. My son enjoyed it so much and then we all ate his pizza. If you have extra time and want to visit other places in Albania, the hotel offers tours all around the country from the UNESCO towns of Berat and Gjirokastra to Kruja and the capital Tirana and Albanian coastline.
