Bringing the Mediterranean Dream to Life: Hotel Villa Margarit, Saranda

A whitewashed property with balconies, breathtaking sea views and a lush garden: Villa Margarit is a small oasis of peace and quiet in the heart of Saranda. This family-run hotel, one of the first accommodations in the coastal town, opened its doors in 1992 and today is among the best hotels in south Albania. The property is strategically located near supermarkets, restaurants, banks, bus stops and the port. At Villa Margarit, beautifully bohemian style, green elements and items that could have been plucked straight from European flea markets, fill the cosy space with wooden tables, colored curtains, bougainvillea, and comfortable beds. We wouldn’t blame you for spending your entire stay ensconced here.

There are 12 rooms, 8 of them with sea views and private balconies, with spacious, light-filled interiors. Natural materials such as wood and ceramics are complemented by handcrafted objects from Albania, including geometrical-patterned pillows, handmade macramè items and fresh flowers from the garden. Walls are a calming blush-pink color, offset by minimalistic elements, paintings and large windows. At the second floor of the property, there is a small library with books gifted or unintentionally forgotten by previous guests. You can start your day reading one of them while drinking coffee and relaxing surrounded by plants and flowers. What about the food? Every morning an Albanian breakfast is served in the garden. Also, Villa Margarit cooperates with one of the best sea food restaurants in town, Balbi 34 -hotel’s guests have small discounts for lunch and dinner.
